A Finished Drawing

When I draw, I usually am hoping to end up with something I can use for a painting I'm working on. I'll draw the thing out, then I will transfer it onto watercolour paper or gesso board, or a canvas. But, in this case, I drew it out and I quite liked it, so I decided to finish the drawing. The girl on the left is at the stage I would have left it at, had I not decided to "finish" it. The girl on the right, however, is done. I used an HB graphite pencil and a 6B charcoal pencil.

The picture below is my finished drawing.

And here is the watercolour painting that I made out of it (a completely different product).

Journaling

I have found that keeping an art journal really helps an artist develop their drawing skills. The moment I started keeping a journal, about 2 years ago, I instantly became a better artist. I was looking at things more, I was thinking about art more, and I actually just drew more! Here are a few pages from my journals that I've done on my travels this year.
